According to the lunar calendar, the Year of the Snake occurs between 29 January 2025 and 16 February 2026. Babies born during this time are said to be blessed with the snake’s intelligence, independence, and charm. The coin’s reverse portrays a coloured representation of a happy young snake curled around a log with foliage and toadstools. The Chinese character for ‘snake’ the inscription ‘YEAR OF THE SNAKE’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also incorporated in the design.
