Tokelau 2014 $5 Matthew Flinders Silver Coloured Proof Coin

Born in 1774, Matthew Flinders joined the Royal Navy at fifteen. Serving on a number of ships, including HMS Providence on Bligh’s second Breadfruit Voyage, Flinders was involved in two voyages to Australia. The first saw Flinders and George Bass confirm that Tasmania was an island, whilst the second provided Flinders with perhaps his greatest claim to fame.
