ROMAN REPUBLIC, P. Fonteius P.f Capito, as Triumvir Monetalis (moneyer), Silver Denarius (3.40g, 17mm), Rome mint 55 BC. Obv. Helmeted and draped bust of Mars right, trophy of arms on left shoulder, "P· FONTEIVS P· F· CAPITO· III·VIR" surrounds. Rev. Warrior on horseback galloping right, thrusting spear downward at kneeling enemy in Gallic helmet, who holds sword and shield and is about to slay unarmed captive, "MN· FONT· TR· MIL" (MN & NT ligate) surrounds above.
