ROMAN REPUBLIC, C. Publicius Malleolus, as Triumvir Monetalis (moneyer), Silver Denarius (3.85g, 20mm), Rome mint 96 BC. Obv. Head of Mars right, with youthful features, wearing plumed helmet, mallet above, "X-" monogram (mark of value) to lower right. Rev. Heroic figure stands left, foot on cuirass, holding spear and leaning on tabella inscribed "C MAL", trophy of arms to left. Crawford 335/3f; Sydenham 810.
