On the 14th of February 1966, Australia converted to the decimal system, and undertook the massive task of replacing predecimal coins and notes with their then new decimal equivalents. Celebrating the coins of the predecimal and decimal eras, this coin was created to honour the 50th anniversary of this major landmark in Australia's currency history.
