Since its inception in 1930, the FIFA World Cup has united millions of football fans across the globe. The first tournament hosted by Uruguay saw 13 teams participate from across the globe. Having grown exponentially since then, the 2026 World Cup will host 48 teams and 104 matches, with Australia's national football team the Socceroos qualifying for a seventh appearance. The coin’s reverse depicts a geometrically shaped football. Each shape (clockwise from the top) incorporates various elements including a kangaroo interacting with a football, stylised golden wattle, along with vibrant coloured patterns.
