The Royal Australian Mint is proud to support the Australian Winter Paralympic Team as they head to the 2026 Milano Cortina Games to take on the world. Australia first competed at the Winter Paralympic Games in 1980 in Geilo, Norway, with two athletes. It wasn't until 1992 in Albertville, France, that Australia won its first medal - a bronze by Michael Milton in alpine skiing. Milton went on to become a Paralympic legend, winning six gold, three silver and two bronze medals across four Games, and setting the foundation for Australia's success on snow. Following in his tracks, athletes like Bart Bunting, Jess Gallagher and Simon Patmore have continued Australia's proud tradition.
