2024 50c 50th Anniversary of Countdown PNC

Countdown roared onto ABC television in 1974, changing Australian pop culture forever. For more than a decade, we collectively tuned in every Sunday night to watch the latest band and emerging artists, and to count down all the hits on the journey to discover which artist was number one. The influence Countdown and legendary host, Ian "Molly" Meldrum had on the Australian music scene was immense, helping build the careers and fanbase of both homegrown performers and a new breed of international artists like ABBA, Blondie and Madonna.
