In 2024 the Sydney Swans mark 150 years since the club's home ground. Lakeside Oval in Albert Park, Victoria. The team can trace is origins to 21 March 1873, when a meeting was held at the Clarendon Hotel, South Melbourne to establish the South Melbourne Football Club. In 1897 the club was a founding member of the Victorian Football League (VFL), which in 1990 became the Australian Football League (AFL).
