Since 1947, Australian service personnel, police officers and civilians have served on peacekeeping and peace operations around the world, always as part of a multinational force alongside many nations. They have stood between warring armies, observed ceasefires, overseen elections, cleared landmines and ensured the delivery of humanitarian assistance. All have accepted the risk of deploying to some of the world’s most dangerous and confronting places, to bring peace to countries ruined by war.
