The inquisitive, endearing Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) is a small parrot native to the drier regions of Australia, where it is found in open scrublands, woodlands and grassland. In the wild, Budgerigars are green and yellow, with black markings on the nape, back and wings. These nomadic birds usually move around in small flocks, but under favourable conditions can sometimes number in the many thousands. Budgerigars (or budgies) are one of the world's most popular pets.
