2021 50c The Battle of Nui Le 50 Years PNC

Operation Ivanhoe was launched on 19 September 1971. Intelligence reports, from early September 1971, indicated that the infamous 33rd Regiment of the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) was moving into the northern part of Phuoc Tuy Province. On 21 September 1971, weeks away from going home, soldiers of B and D Companies, 4RAR/NZ (ANZAC) Battalion, together with artillery and aircraft support, became involved in heavy fighting against the 33rd Regiment, successfully preventing the NVA from moving further south. This important action became known as the Battle of Nui Le.
