2021 $1 Quokka 1oz Silver Coloured Proof Coin

About the same size as domestic cats, quokkas are wallaby-like marsupials that were once plentiful throughout Australia’s south west. They are now classified as vulnerable, having suffered from predation by introduced species and loss of habitat. The coin’s reverse portrays a coloured image of a quokka standing on its hind legs while eating its preferred diet of leaves. The design includes the inscription QUOKKA, representations of the seashore and a lighthouse, as well as The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The obverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
