2021 $1 Australian Penny Kangaroo Copper Uncirculated Coin

After the death of King George V in 1936, the obverse of all Australian coinage was replaced with the effigy of King George VI (by Thomas H Paget). The revised penny would also feature the bounding kangaroo on the reverse (by George Kruger Gray). The coin’s effigy would change one last time, when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the in 1952. This coin marks the 110th anniversary of the introduction of the original penny to Australia’s currency. The coin’s reverse is an adaptation of Gray’s design, which was in circulation from 1938 until the introduction of decimal currency.
