Beloved of a generation of Australian children, “Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo” was a highly successful television series that screened on the Nine Network from 1968 to 1970. Eric Jupp's catchy theme music introduced each half-hour episode of the adventures of young Sonny Hammond and his family in the fictional Waratah National Park (actually Sydney's Ku-ring-gai-Chase National Park). Of course, the real star of the show was Skippy, an unusually intelligent and dextrous grey kangaroo who communicates with characteristic (and fabricated) clicking sounds.
