New regulations, known as Project Blueprint, sought to equalise the Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore in the new millennium, notably by standardising the chassis. In 2008, a new force arrived: Triple Eight Race Engineering and Jamie Whincup. The team’s BF Falcons had previously been fast, but now they made good use of the sequential gearbox allowed in Supercars racing for the first time. Whincup stormed to the title with a run of 10 race wins in 11 starts, starting with the Bathurst 1000 alongside teammate Craig Lowndes.
