Mark Skaife had already won two ATCC titles by the turn of the century, but the sport’s ultimate professional was in the fight of his life at the Holden Racing Team against gifted teammate Craig Lowndes, and Skaife rose to the challenge in 2000, preventing a championship three-peat for Lowndes. The VT model was the first iteration of the third-generation Commodore and helped HRT to five successive ATCC titles from 1998-2002. Despite being 23mm longer and some 48mm wider than the VS, HRT managed to keep its weight down to the category limit of 1350kg.
