Nicknamed Godzilla, the all-conquering Nissan GT-R was the ultimate car built for Group A, the international category that defined the ATCC from 1985-92. With a hugely powerful turbocharged 2.6-litre six- cylinder engine driving all four wheels, the GT-R dominated so completely in the early 1990s that they had to change the rules in 1993, to the V8 formula we now know as Supercars. Expatriate Kiwi Jim Richards was the master of Group A. Richards and teammate Mark Skaife were unstoppable in 1991 driving the mighty GT-R.
