2019 50c Celebrating 90 Years of The Ghan Limited Edition PNC

Originally known as the Afghan Express, the legendary train now called The Ghan takes its name from the 19th-century Afghan camel drivers who helped explore the country’s arid interior. The first train of this name departed Adelaide for Alice Springs, on 4 August 1929. In 2004 the line was extended to Darwin. After 90 years, The Ghan remains one of Australia’s iconic train journeys, combining spectacular scenery, memorable outback experiences, on-board comfort and all-inclusive hospitality.
