2019 $1 Her Majesty The Queen A New Effigy Unveiled PNC

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has featured on the obverse of all Australian coins since 1953, the year of her coronation. With the introduction of decimal currency in Australia, in 1966, the obverse of newly released decimal coins included an effigy of the Queen designed by Arnold Machin. New coins issued from 1985 featured a new design by Raphael Maklouf, presenting the Queen in her 50s. All Australian coins issued since 1998, the year that marked 45 years of the Queen's reign, have included the lan Rank-Broadley effigy design. Since then, the Queen has become the longest reigning British monarch (2015) and celebrated her Sapphire Jubilee (2017). This latest era in the Queen's reign has been captured in a new effigy design by Jody Clark.
