In National Reconciliation Week 2017, the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 1967 referendum and 25th anniversary of the Mabo decision, which paved the way for native title - two landmark achievements for Indigenous Australians and symbolic turning points for Australia. To commemorate these two important anniversaries, The Royal Australian Mint is proud to have designed this coin in collaboration with Boneta-Marie Mabo, an award-winning contemporary artist and Eddie ‘Koiki’ Mabo's granddaughter.
