2017 $1 Henry Lawson 150th Anniversary PNC

Henry Lawson (1867-1922) was one of the leading lights of Australia’s early literary culture. A balladist and short fiction writer, Lawson is best remembered for his short stories, which illustrate his gift for observing human nature and interactions. Perhaps the most famous of these is “The Drover’s Wife”, represented on one stamp in this issue commemorating Lawson’s life and literature; the other stamp depicts “Mitchell: A Character Sketch”.
