The Battle of the Somme refers to a series of actions between 1 July and 18 November 1916 in which more than one million men were wounded or killed. The coin’s reverse depicts a group of soldiers as they go into the attack in the Somme Valley in France. The design includes the inscription ‘Be Worth of Them 1916’, and The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
