2015 $1 100 Years of Commonwealth Management of Lighthouses PNC

2015 marks the centenary of the national management of lighthouses. On 1 July 1915 the Commonwealth of Australia officially accepted responsibility from the state governments for all landfall and coastal lights around Australia. Today the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is responsible for maintaining aids to navigation at some 388 sites around the 37,600 kilometres of Australia's coastline.
