2014 $1 Bright Bug Ulysses Butterfly Coloured Uncirculated Coin

The adult male Ulysses is drawn to bright blue colours and can see them from up to 30 metres away. With the help of thousands of lenses in one eye it is as though they have blue tunnel vision as they often mistake anything blue for a female Ulysses Butterfly. This intriguing creature has green blood, breathes through holes in its sides, uses its feet for tasting and antennae for smelling! Their bright colour is designed to attract a mate and the underside is a dull brown colour so that the butterfly can disappear when the wings are closed.
