2014 $1 Banjo Paterson 1oz Silver Proof Coin

Andrew Barton “Banjo” Paterson CBE (1864 - 1941) is renowned as an Australian bush poet, but he was also a solicitor, journalist, war correspondent, soldier and author. In honour of Paterson, this coin depicts a scene from the popular anthem Walting Matilda, featuring a swagman in colour. A photographic portrait of Banjo Paterson is fringed by Banksia flowers, his signature, and the inscription A.B. “Banjo” Paterson 1864 - 1941. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appears in the design.
