2012 50c Australian Sea Life II The Reef Surgeonfish 1/2oz Silver Coloured Proof Coin

The coin’s reverse depicts a surgeonfish in colour and includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. Incorporated into the design are the inscriptions AUSTRALIAN SEA LIFE II THE REEF and SURGEONFISH. The most distinguishing characteristics of this marine species is its amazing ability to change colour and its extremely sharp scutes, dorsal and anal fins, hence the name - surgeonfish.
