2012 $1 Animals of The Zoo Southern Corroboree Frog Coloured Uncirculated Coin

Melbourne Zoo is currently home to almost one hundred critically endangered Southern Corroboree Frogs. These eye-catching amphibians have bright yellow and black stripes, with each pattern unique to every individual. They live in a tiny pocket limited to bogs and surrounding woodland in the heart of Kosciuszko National Park. It uses two different habitats to survive. In winter, the adults shelter in the dense undergrowth and leaf litter of snow gum woodlands and in summer they migrate to the moist sphagnum moss bogs to breed.
