The coin’s reverse design comprises images representing sailors from the early days of the Royal Australian Navy; HMAS Yarra, the River Class Torpedo Boat Destroyer commissioned in 1910; and the modern warship HMAS Anzac, the third Royal Australian Navy ship to carry the legendary name. Also included on the reverse is The Perth Mint's ‘P’ mintmark. A gold-plated badge replicating the official Navy badge features a red, green and blue enamel design, incorporating the St Edwards (Queens) Crown and the inscription ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY.
