2011 $1 Air Series Kookaburra Coloured Uncirculated Coin

Kookaburras are a large brown and white kingfisher with a long, broad beak and a brown stripe across the eyes. They are found almost anywhere with trees and a food source in eastern Australia. The kookaburra’s name comes from an old aboriginal language known as Wiradjuri. The word ‘guuguubarra’ was used to describe its raucous laughter at dawn and dusk, which it uses as a greeting to other birds.
