2010 $25 Australia Sovereign Gold Proof Coin

Established in 1899 in response to the discovery of large gold deposits in Western Australia, The Perth Mint produced more than 100 million sovereigns during the reigns of Queen Victoria, King Edward VII and King George V. On the reverse, accompanied by the words AUSTRALIA and SOVEREIGN, the Australian Commonwealth Coat of Arms appears on a background of golden wattle, Australia’s national floral emblem, and a scroll with the word AUSTRALIA. The reverse also incorporates the Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
