2009 Proof Set

In 2009 we celebrate the International Year of Astronomy. The theme of the event is ‘The Universe, Yours to Discover’. The release of this six coin Proof Set marks the occasion, which also coincides with the 400th anniversary of Galileo Galilei’s first findings. Featured in this set is a special $1 coin minted with an image of the famous radio telescope located in Parkes, NSW symbolic of Australia’s place in international astronomy.
