The coin’s reverse portrays a Lionfish in colour. Covered in red to black bands, the Lionfish has very long pectoral and dorsal fins for protection against predators. Growing to around 35cm in length, the Lionfish can be found in tropical waters around the west, north and east coasts of Australia. The coin's reverse includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
