2008 Mint Set

The Royal Australian Mint commemorates the ‘International Year of Planet Earth’. The aim of the International Year is to demonstrate new ways in which earth sciences can help ensure a safer and more prosperous world. Adopting the theme, ‘Earth sciences for society’, it is the biggest ever international effort to promote this field of scientific endeavour. In this six coin Uncirculated Set, the reverse of the 20c coin features powerful images of tsunami, floods, earthquakes and salinity reminding us of the impact that geological processes may have on our existence.
