2008 $5 The Don 100th Anniversary of Sir Donald Bradman Uncirculated Coin

This collector coin from the Royal Australian Mint, released in partnership with the Bradman Foundation, commemorates the centenary of Sir Donald Bradman’s birth on 27 August 1908. It depicts “The Don” giving the crowd his customary salute after scoring a century. Bradman broke the world Test cricket batting record when he was just 21 with an innings of 334 runs. He captained Australia 24 times and many of his batting records still stand. During the Great Depression it lifted Australians’ spirits to see a young man take on England and win.
