2008 $1 Land Series Koala Coloured Uncirculated Coin

The koala is a thickset marsupial with thick, grey to brown fur, large ears and a large, flat nose. They live in eucalypt forests in Eastern Australia, from Adelaide to northern Queensland. Koalas are fussy eaters and prefer specific types of gum leaves. They have two ‘thumbs’ on their front paws to help them grip when climbing and eating. The koala is one of the few mammals (apart from primates) with fingerprints and each individual’s prints are distinct and similar in appearance to human prints.
