In 1907, Australia’s first Surf Lifesaving Club was founded at Bondi. Since then, volunteer lifesavers have rescued more than 500,000 people around Australia. 2007 has been declared ‘Year of the Surf Lifesaver’ to honour 100 years of service by the men and women who patrol our beaches.
