2006 $1 Australia Japan Year of Exchange 1oz Silver Coin

The Year of Exchange commemorates the 30th anniversary of the 1976 Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Australia and Japan. The coin’s reverse depicts a kangaroo and the 2006 Australia-Japan Year of Exchange logo in colour. The logo features the stylised and interconnected letters ‘A’ and ‘J’ in the form of a yellow ochre stipple and a red oriental brushstroke. These design elements, including the inscription ‘Australia-Japan Year of Exchange’ in English and Japanese, are enclosed within a circular pattern of small kangaroos.
