2005 $1 Centenary PGA Championship 1oz Silver Proof Coin

Australia’s oldest professional golf tournament began in 1905. The inaugural event at Royal Melbourne was won by Dan Soutar, the founding father of the Professional Golfers’ Association in Australia. The coin’s reverse depicts a golfer and a golf ball. The design includes the Australian PGA Centenary logo in colour, the year-dates 1905-2005 and the inscription The start of a new era. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appears in the design.
