2004 $1 Royal Visit 50th Anniversary Florin 1oz Silver Gilded Proof Coin

When Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Sydney on 3 February 1954, she became the first reigning Monarch to visit Australia. To commemorate the tour, Australia issued a commemorative florin, one of only four marking significant national milestones. As with the original coin, this Royal Visit 50th Anniversary Florin depicts William Leslie Bowles’ image of a British lion and an Australian kangaroo standing side by side. However, both animals are spectacularly illuminated in 24 carat gold.
