2003 $10 150 Years Adelaide Pound Selectively Gold Plated Silver Proof Coin

This bimetal proof coin commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Adelaide Pound, Australia’s first gold coin, minted in 1852. The original coins were made from Australian gold, using dies produced in South Australia. The design of this 2002 commemorative Adelaide Pound coin is based on an actual coin and restrike held in the Mint’s National Collection. The dies for this coin have been produced using the Mint’s high technology, computer-generated engraving machine.
