2003 $1 50th Anniversary of The End of The Korean War Silver Proof Coin

Australian Forces went to the Korean peninsula after communist North Korea invaded its southern neighbour in June 1950, and served there until 1957 even though an armistice ended the fighting on 27 July 1953. The coin design background of vertical lines replicates the stainless steel poles which are a major feature of the design of the Australian National Korean War Memorial in Canberra. The Dove of Peace is shown between the floral emblems of South Korea and Australia.
