2001 $5 Finale Centenary of Federation 1oz Silver Hologram Proof Coin

This coin is first Australian coin to feature a hologram or an Optically Variable Device (OVD) and features designs produced using Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) technology. The hologram reflects the Rotunda from the inauguration ceremony on 1 January 1901 in Centennial Park, Sydney, and a map of Australia with the States and Territories visible on the second reflection. The unique optically variable image on this coin was produced through a collaboration between the Royal Australian Mint and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
