2000 $5 Sydney Olympics Athletics PNC

Athletics, one of the most popular Olympic sports, covers track and field events, as well as road and combined events. To date, Australians have distinguished themselves in sprints, middle-distance running, long-distance running, race walking, hurdles, triple jump, high jump, discus, javelin and heptathlon. The athletics events are taking place between 22 September and 1 October 2000 at the Olympic Stadium. Approximately 110,000 spectators will witness Australia’s elite athletes competing in the largest outdoor venue in Olympic history.
