1999 $1 International Year of Older Persons PNC

The United Nations has designated 1999 the International Year of Older Persons. ‘Australia - towards a society of all ages’ is the overall theme for the Year in Australia. The theme recognises the importance of fostering intergenerational activities and understanding to create a balance between tradition and innovation in economic, social and cultural development. The International Year provides a unique opportunity for all Australians to recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution older people make to the nation, to communities, and to families.
