1997 $1 Kangaroo 1oz Silver Uncirculated Coin

The kangaroo is more than just a unique marsupial indigenous to this country. It is an icon that symbolises Australia throughout the world. Of the 56 kangaroo species found in Australia the largest is the Red Kangaroo. Weighing up to almost 100 kilograms, a full grown male can cruise the rugged terrain of the outback at 20-25 km/h, twice as fast if threatened. The reverse features a Red Kangaroo and its reflection whilst drinking from a waterhole. The coin is finished to the Mint's high standards with raised polished image and frosted background.
