1996 $1 Kangaroo 1oz Silver Uncirculated Coin

This special issue created by the Royal Australian Mint for coin collectors and international visitors and has unique heirloom and gift value. The reverse design features a portrait of an Eastern Grey Kangaroo and her Joey. Another feature of this remarkable coin is its 'reverse frosting', where proof-like characteristics have been achieved by highly polishing the raised images on a delicately frosted background. The Silver Kangaroo featured on the reverse was designed and sculpted by Horst Hahne, Chief Engraver, Royal Australian Mint, Canberra.
