2012 50c Australian Bush Babies II Kookaburra 1/2oz Silver Coloured Proof Coin

The coin's reverse depicts an irresistible coloured image capturing the curiosity and mischievousness of a beautiful baby kookaburra. As well as The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark, the design features a spider friend and delicately frosted representations of Australian bush flowers. The kookaburra is a kingfisher native to Australia and best known for its unmistakable  call, which sounds uncannily like human laughter. This beautiful bird is believed to mate for life, and when coupled, both male and female of the species share the incubation duties of their unhatched eggs. Territorial, but with a distinct social order, kookaburras in the same family group share the parenting duties.
