2012 $1 International Year of The Cooperatives Uncirculated Coin

The United Nations has declared 2012 to be the International Year of Co-operatives, recognising member-owned businesses and their commitment to economic viability and social responsibility. Since the mid-19th century, Australia has fostered many mutual organisations, including but not limited to credit unions, building societies, farming and buying co-operatives, social clubs and trade unions. Co-operatives are owned and run by their customers or members for their mutual benefit, and return profits through lower prices, better services or reinvestment into the community.
