Sir Charles Kingsford Smith is regarded as the greatest man ever to fly. His name is held in the same esteem as aviation luminaries such as the Wright Brothers and General Chuck Yeager, the first man to break the sound barrier. He is most well known for two record breaking adventures circumnavigating continental Australia and crossing the Pacific Ocean. The Royal Australian Mint has released this special $1 coin, as part of this six coin Proof Set, featuring Sir Charles Kingsford Smith.
